Lucia's New Casa
What can we expect on our trips?
Growth in your life, whether you are a Christian of 30 years or a non Christian of 30 years – the experience will have an effect on your life and the way you live it.
How many people go on these trips?
Anywhere from 10-25. Dads, moms, grandparents, college students, young couples and teenagers are all welcome. You will see why when you go.
What is the youngest age we allow?
There is no age limit; however, if you are under the age of 18, we do require a legal guardian or parent to come along.
Do I need a passport?
Only if you want to be allowed back into America (yes)!
How do I get a passport?
You can do it anumber of ways. We recommend via the Internet. This should cost anywhere from $75 and up. Normal delivery is about 3 weeks, but you can pay extra to get it the next day (not recommended, especially if it’s the day before the trip!).
How much do these trips cost?
About $1,200 big ones. But you can raise the money if you like. We also have scholarships available. The cost includes round-trip airfare, lodging, meals (non traveling) and transportation.
How do I sign up?
You can contact us via email or phone. Generally, you will want to commit at least 3 months ahead of the trip. We require a deposit that covers your airfare about 2 months before the trip. It is usually around $500 USD. We also have several meetings before we go to answer questions and help you prepare.
How long are these trips?
Most trips are only a week long. Two days of travel, four days of work, and one day of rest and relaxation.
What do we do when we go on these mission trips?
We focus on construction projects. For then majority of the week, we work on selected individuals’ homes, churches and/or schools. Towards the end of the week, we usually have a day for travel or go to the marketplaces and see the different cultures.
I’m a girl, and I don’t know anything about construction … does that mean I can’t go?
No, the girls usually outwork the boys! Anyone of any skill level or gender can come. There are endless opportunities to serve in the mission field.
